UWB Solutions
Home AV networking without having to install additional wiring reduces installation costs while being more viable and flexible. Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is the only technology that supports both wired and wireless access with no major modifications to the current specification.
UWB-over-Coax offers cost savings in home AV network installations, taking advantage of the coax already present in most homes to connect devices between rooms. Within a room, wireless UWB access can be used to provide mobility and reduce the number of cables required to connect devices.
UWB-over-Coax is capable of data rates up to 480 Mbps (payload rates up to 400 Mbps), more than enough for the delivery of rich multimedia content distribution around the home, and it provides ample headroom for future applications. It can coexist with digital cable signals and MoCA® on the same wire, and delivers prioritized and parameterized QoS for better quality of experience results.
UWB is inherently point-to-point and ad-hoc, with no need for Access Points, making it easy to deploy and manage. Since UWB is time-slot oriented, it is well-suited for applications with stringent QoS requirements.
For home AV network installations, UWB ultimately offers cost savings, the best network performance with ad-hoc connectivity, a trusted whole-home coaxial backbone connection, and a wireless connection in each room.

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Modem
The CoAir® Chipset is based on the WiMedia® Alliance specifications. Capable of bridging Ethernet, wireless UWB, and UWB-over-Coax, the result is a seamless data and home AV network.

CoAir® Ethernet Bridge Reference Design
The CoAir® Ethernet to UWB-over-Coax bridge reference design is a complete solution that takes Ethernet packets in/out to send/receive on the UWB-over-Coax home AV network.

CoAir® Mini PCI Reference Design
The CoAir® Mini PCI reference design can be plugged into the Mini PCI slot of a device to make it available on the UWB-over-Coax home AV network.
