With the adoption of DOCSIS 3.0, cable service providers can increase the data bandwidth to the home, enabling the eventual adoption of Internet Protocol (IP) for delivering content. As the leading supplier of IPTV set-top box solutions, our technology is easily adapted to address this new opportunity.
A new deployment architecture is also emerging. Currently, each TV in the home uses an expensive cable set-top box. However, deployment costs can be substantially reduced by using a gateway and multiple low-cost thin clients. Each thin client controls one tuner in the gateway or accesses recorded content. The selected live or recorded program is then sent to the thin client over the home AV network.
Our family of architecture-compatible Secure Media Processors, SDKs, and wide variety of reference designs enable fast development of a cable gateway, set-top box, set-back box (mounts behind the HDTV), or thin client with a wide variety of feature options:

The SMP8656 provides a highly-integrated, high-performance, cost-effective solution for cable/IPTV gateways and set-top boxes, supporting high-performance 3D graphics and NDS and Nagravision conditional access.

The SMP8652 provides a highly-integrated, high-performance, low-cost solution for IPTV set-top boxes and thin clients, cable thin clients, and media players.

The SMP8644 provides a highly-integrated, high-performance, cost-effective solution for premium Blu-ray players using our VXP® Video Processor, cable/IPTV gateways, and cable/IPTV set-top boxes.

The CG3310M is a single-chip HomePNA® solution for MDU Endpoints, supporting high data rates, multi-band operation, advanced synchronous MAC, and best of breed QoS.

The SD3402 represents the fourth-generation of Z-Wave® single-chip wireless technology, and is ideal for easily adding Z-Wave® control and status capabilities to RF remote controls, set-top boxes, and CE products. Integration of the SD3402 into set-top boxes also adds the ability for cable and IPTV service providers to offer home security monitoring and home energy management services.
Our development kits and reference designs enable the rapid development of a cable set-top box, gateway, or thin client with a wide variety of feature options, or choose a production model from one of our ODM partners.

The Tru2way 8654 reference design enables the rapid development of a DOCSIS 3.0 based cable set-top box or gateway for cable systems where downloadable conditional access is used.

The Vantage 8656 development kit enables the rapid development of cable/IPTV gateway and set-top boxes that can also support ATSC or DVB-T tuners.

The Vantage 8654 development kit enables the rapid development of cable/IPTV gateway and set-top boxes that can also support ATSC or DVB-T tuners.

The Vantage 8652 development kit enables the rapid development of an IPTV set-top box, media player, etc. that can also support ATSC or DVB-T tuners.
We offer a robust cable set-top box software stack that is designed to quickly and easily enable our customers to add additional features.
Sigma Designs is working with the following software companies to provide a more complete solution for our cable products.
